Hi. I found a review of Antix online and i had to try it out. I was so impressed that i installed base Antix on a old hp ze2000 with 512 ram and it runs very well __{{emoticon}}__ So installed a full Antix on my Dell Studio XPS laptop and i am even more impressed. I have tried different distro's but this is now my main system on laptops. My big box still runs Mageia 3 and i am not sure yet if i gonna switch since the Antix installer only can install on 1 harddrive. But other than that thumbs up for a great distro __{{emoticon}}__

Hi, I am new to this forum, too. I revived effort to move over Linux, particularly with Win95 at EOL on an HP Pavilion Z4325, not so different than your laptop. I tried out PClinuxOS, running fine on my modern x64 Super Computer (designed by a hot-rod PC friend,"Hey, I've been reading about this new motherboard (etc) and wanted to try it out..."), but had garbled text problem. Probably a driver thing. I next returned to Puppy Linux. The 'regular' flavor would freeze periodically. The 'retro' flavor seemed alright, but I decided I didn't really like the 'everything in one partition, running as root' since this laptop lacks a boot password feature. I also don't really care for the overwhelming number of baseline apps. I prefer a simple distro and add apps as I identify a need.

Now I am trying AntiX, starting with an old M11 disk (left over from trying to revive an ancient Armada laptop). That installed fine but the Synaptic package update didn't run very well, complaining about retrieving packages. I just finished burning a fresh 13.2 iso for a clean update.

Welcome. Downloading and installing the antiX 13.2-Full shouldn't be a problem. Most of us here use old and new equipment to play on. __{{emoticon}}__
