A big thank you for a distro that works and does what I want __{{emoticon}}__
I am old NT fan (3.1 onwards) after XP (vista & 7 are not what I am looking for) I started looking for a better OS. I missed the small footprint of NT4 and not having to restart for weeks lol. My 1st look at linux led me to DSL (I still have it installed on a old box PII 233 128MB ram, it is used as a auto surf station, 30 days plus no restart __{{emoticon}}__ ) DSL is old and does not work on my latops __{{emoticon}}__ So the search began for a small fast distro that supports laptops. Tried and dumped Puppy (how did it ever become that popular?), Tiny Me (Hmm not sure what happend, never got to run) Feather (not my cup of tea), Yoper, Vector KDE & light (liked light, but Antix is better), Slax (fast, but kindergarden layout put me off), YLMF (looks like XP, but not as stable as XP) Simply Mepis (I can not belive how bad the installer is, they need help!!). Antix put on USB stick 3 or 4 times, just keept comming back. It is not most user friendly distro, I killed it a lot of times. Finnaly read the FAQ and worked out what I was doing wrong lol. The installer needs some help (I now know how to fix the grub so it loads from USB stick). It is fast and stable if you update thru the root __{{emoticon}}__ I still need XP for work, but when they stop updating it, I will switch Antix full time.
Again thank you for a great distro __{{emoticon}}__

Best Regards
Shaun

Howdy and Welcome Shaun.

Yeah. I'd like to see either more options/features from Mepis Installer. I found that installing from USB at first would error out to Grub 15 error.

Figured out How to edit /boot/grub menu.lst to fix that. What I did is posted somewhere (it's Sunday and I aint going to look for it.)

Same thing with installing to two drifferent drives. One for /home. The Other for / . I also posted on how I got around that also. I think drg posted a neat solution for that problem also.

But. Nothing is perfect. If I wanna change how something works. Well. I better get off my keister and do it myself. (Not the Whining type (edit: I bend the truth a little sometimes __{{emoticon}}__ ). Does not go well with my tattoos)

Glad you joined us and are having fun using AntiX

Happy Trails, Rok
