I am loading the antix-15 386 full version from CD on a 17" HP dv9000 series laptop
If I try to boot from defaults, I get no X.
If I boot to safe, I get X but 1024x768 resolution. The screen is 1440x900. I'd like to get it running in max resolution.
I was able to install pretty much defaults, just fine to /dev/sdb8 (my SSD drive). I did not install grub to mbr or root at this time. Maybe I should have installed it to root, so I could see how it was configured? This is my main laptop and my first try with antix-15 since it was released, so I'll let my customized SlackoPup with Grub 2 control the boot at least till I am more confident. I got a new job and have been working like a dog and just never got time to try the new antix-15 since the beta.
When I boot to the install on sdb8 it locks up probably when trying to bring up X.
I am thinking to go try sgfxi, but not confident working with apt-get in command line to know what to install or not? In synaptic I am more comfortable, but without X I don't have it..
Here is the inxi readout when booted from CD with safe option.

I got it fixed.
I took the long way around getting X working on the installed setup, then using synaptic to install the 304 legacy metapackage and nvidia-xconfig, but in the end, that didn't work.
Then I su'd to root from console in the installed version and ran sgfxi, and basically took defaults, and it worked after I took all the boot options out and rebooted again.
I have that weird thing with the youtube icons over on the left at the bottom, but things are functional and no other major problems so far.
Ceni worked perfectly setting up the wifi.
nutty though, LOL. It keeps scrolling and moving my cursor etc. Its difficult to type a sentence without it goofing up, as you can see from this line, where it moved the cursor up 2 lines after the first 4 words.
The touchpad settings are
I'll have to go hunt down why its doing that. In older versions and other distros many times I needed to disable touch pad button1 to keep it from clicking by mistake, but there are more new"features" there now that I need to disable.

synclient VertTwoFingerScroll=0
synclient HorizTwoFingerScroll=0
testing synclient changes... turning off a lot of scrolling... not sure if it will help or not
ter
I suppose I'll try turning different things off till it works bet
CRAP!
synclient TapButton1=0
Seeing if its any better... I think its just that TapButton1 again... We'll see...
synclient PalmDetect=1
synclient VertEdgeScroll=0
Naaaa, now all vert scroll stopped working
synclient TapButton1=1
With palmdetect and vert scroll on its not too bad
synclient HorizTwoFingerScroll=0
