you can try installing lxrandr if you want a gui tool.

"In this Screencast I show you how to configure multiple monitors with the build in lxrandr ... to the right monitor."

using the usual xrandr for this doesnt seem that friendly, though its possible it has improved:

Thanks figosdev,

I will give it a shot when I get home. I did not know"which base" that antiX is working from.

I mean whether its KDE base or Gnome base or xfce or lxde

I wanted to know which base in order to know which software to install.

Like I would not want to install gedit on a KDE system (for example)

kde and gnome and xfce and lxde are all"desktop environments." they are typically a suite of window manager plus other utilities.

the antix download page tells you what default window manager each flavour has. for me, the default is icewm. it is very lightweight and lets all those resources go to your applications, and i find it useful-- but lxrandr is probably the most lightweight gui version of xrandr that might do what you need.

i get what youre saying about installing apps from related suites. personally if i liked gedit (im a leafpad fan) i would have no qualms about having gedit and kde both. but i get your point.

Yes, I comprehend that you can choose any DE that you want. But distros are bulit from a certain base so for example Kubuntu is based on KDE and has all the KDE versions of everything and if you install gedit it will pull and download the entire gnome libraries (over 500MB of stuff)

So I wanted to know which base antiX is using as its primary base so that I can choose the appropriate software choices. I am assuming at this point that the base is LXDE the same as Lubuntu?

You assume wrongly.
antiX is not based on any desktop environment whether that be lxde, xfce, kde, gnome, mate or ....
It uses simple window managers to 'organise' the 'desktop'.

BTW arandr is included and can be found in the control centre under Session - Set Screen Resolution.
It is supposed to be able to set up dual monitors.

arandr-- of course. its been a looooooong time. i have antix b1 mounted (im waiting for rc or stable now) and i didnt find lxrandr, i shouldve just grepped for randr and then arandr wouldve turned up.

of course antix itself is not based on lxde, but lxrandr is associated with lxde.

Thanks guys,

Both of those suggestions did the job. I wish they changed the menu not to say just"screen resolution" instead to"change display settings"

Closing ticket

I dont know how to mark thread as solved?
