Good Day!
I have installed Google Chrome 55.0.2883.87 (64 bit) using metapackage installer, but Chrome often does not start (not always but still very annoying). Please see screenshots:

After having this window Chrome stops starting up. I can not close this window using [X] button on top-right corner, and have to kill it using App Killer.

Well. Looking at your inxi report link. You have the horse power to run Google Chrome Browser.
So I don't think it is a hardware limitation here.

I would try launching google chrome browser from a terminal and see what all the messages say when it launches.

Then give those messages to google chrome on their corrupted profile message box I saw when I watched your video in mpv.

Definitely a weird deal? Maybe a bad download from the Meta Package installer may be to blame? I would maybe uninstall completely google chrome browser using Synaptic Package Manager. Making sure all parts of Google Chrome were removed from /home/user name/.google-chrome folder.

Then try another re install with the meta package installer.

Sorry for the delay, needed to solve another important things.
Unfortunately nothing helped. I have removed completely Google Chrome using Synaptic, removed manually all left settings, then searched and removed all files related to chrome.
Today I have performed clean install using metapackage installer.

No result. Google chrome continues to fail starting each 3-4 attempt to start.

What is worse, when It fails to start, the system hangs, and simple Logout -> Restart session doesn't work, I should perform Reboot.
I think, it is some incompatibility issue between IceWM environment and Chrome. For instance, on Linux Mint, and Linux Q4OS (with Trinity desktop environment) Chrome works great.
Anyway, that problem should be resolved, because nowadays Google Chrome is very popular browser, even more popular than Firefox, and with such problem, I am afraid, I will be unable to install antiX to my friends, almost all of them are Google fans...

Hmm google chome is not in meta-installer on antiX-16, so how did you install it?

Answer - OK it is on 64 bit iso, but not the 32 bit version I'm using.
Is this only an issue in IceWM or also in the other window managers, such as fluxbox and jwm? Any useful output if you open it via a terminal?

I must confirm, that Google Chrome fails to start on all desktop environments!

On jwm and fluxbox system freezes, when Chrome fails to start.
When I open it using terminal, it gives no output.

Update: Completely the same problem exists while launching

Same here to me. Google chrome and Opera fails to start. It happens at each 3-4 attempt to start.

Need to UP this topic again, because it is REALLY VERY IMPORTANT for me!
First, because almost all my friends and acquaintances are Google Chrome fans, and two of them already refused to test this Linux, after I told about this problem with Google Chrome, which actually affects all Chromium based browsers I have tested.
Second, Antix 16 x64 has FirefoxESR 45.7 preinstalled - not the latest Firefox. I have problems with some websites using this Firefox, sometimes, it just hangs while loading web pages, so I have to use App Killer to kill Firefox and use Google Chrome, which often does not start properly (but if it starts, those websites work very well on it).
Sorry, but if this problem will not be fixed, I will be forced to abandon this great Linux distro, and look for something else... __{{emoticon}}__

Self-install"the latest version" of firefox if that trips your trigger, but firefox-esr is the proper"version" for a based-on-stable distro to ship, IMO.

ESR means Extended Support Release.

apt-get dist-upgrade showed ESR getting updated the other day.
Both work fine .

If you want Firefox to be native try MX-16.

Yep, I have the same issue with Chromium too - I'm on AntiX 16- I have to do"killall chromium" to .. kill it - but I have recently switched to Firefox on all my systems so I'm not really bothered, personally!
