Hello folks,
I just thought that I would post this in case someone was also being deviled by this dist-upgrade error message.
/etc/environment: line 1: “GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=default”: command not found
dpkg: error processing install-info (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127
configured to not write apport reports
Errors were encountered while processing:
install-info
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Here is the post I found the solution on:

linktext was:"http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 0&p=449288"

The solution was as simple as adding"GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID=default" to the etc/environment as root and saving it there. (No quotations used.)

You're welcome.
It is with the Testing repos. I think that I got this error because I was messing with chromium on that one particular PC. My other one never had chromium installed and didn't have this problem. I'm not really sure though. __{{emoticon}}__
