Are there any conflicts with powersaved to be aware of if one decides to use gnome-power-manager? I'm trying to set up display dimming when on battery power.
Thanks.

so i'm reading the configuration and scheme files under /etc/powersave. I'm wondering...if I use gnome-power-manager (which I have yet to decide on), do I need powersaved at all? From the configurations, it looks like it controls same hard disk parameters (maybe...) and listens for the lid-close, sleep button push, and power-button push events. cpu scaling is handled elsewhere.
I appreciate the input.

I use powersaved. It automatically scales the cpu depending on load. It also will dim the screen if I unplug the A/C cable to run on battery. Suspend use to work on lid close but I'm not sure now, something got messed up in an update a while back and I have not tested it recently.
I do know I never did anything to set powersaved up, everything is as installed.

@eriefisher - Thanks. I've been playing around with g-p-m under a virtual session, and it just doesn't work the way I want under flux. It requires gnome panel for much of its functionality (at least configuration wise). I'm going to explore the powersave configuration files a little more. What I really want is a way to dim the lcd after a little inactivity, not necessarily turning it all the way off. I've seen ubuntu do this by default, but antix smokes ubuntu in speed (I always laugh when reviewers talk about the 'buntu's improved speed).

i have gnome-power-manager installed for 3 days. this is the second time i try to use it. on my thinkpad r61i the brightness in g-p-m dimmes when i unplug the ac. the brightness keys work like they should work not like in default antix, were the brightness doesn't refresh i have to open a movie or go to tty and back. i love this features, but no matter what time i put for the screen to sleep it goes to sleep at 10 min. and in battery mode i have g-p-m set to suspend on lid close this doesn't work(i know about the setting in mepis tools but i don't want the laptop to suspend on ac). the dimm when idle as far that i can see doesn't work and i'm now checking to see if the computer shuts down at critical battery. i need the power management to turn off display at 1 min, dim the screen when idle, dimm screen when on battery, i use it to set brightness at 50% on AC because i like to keep it green. if anyone has some tips feel free to tell. i'll keep on searching on google but no luck so far. thanks.
