I tried Antix 8.2 on my desktop. It being small, snappy and with everything I need, I decided it was just the thing for my old Acer Extensa 2304 laptop.
I've hit a large problem. I can't get it to go online. When using the desktop it found my ADSL modem but it does not on the laptop. I tried running ifconfig but that is not used by Antix. So what do I do. I really want to use this distro.

Run ifconfig as root user.
Also ceni should detect your modem. (In antiX control centre, network, configure network interface)
You could also post the output of
$inxi -N or $inxi -i

Ceni is a good option. I've had very good luck with wicd. It's one of the options under Control Center>Network>Connect Wirelessly.
Good luck.
Good luck.
