Get MPD to remember the last played song for all playlists!

Hi to all MPD users or those who are willing to use it!

If you don't already know what is MPD, it is the Music Player Daemon,
which is very easy to use and has tons of good clients to manage it. It
loads all your music collection database instantly (mine is about
50GB!) into the memory, is lightweight and powerful!

One feature many will have already noticed is the inability to save the
current position for all your playlists __{{emoticon}}__ , what I find
essential. I have playlists based on the genre, so I want also the get
the position remembered for every time I restart listening to that
genre.

We uploaded to Google Code a very easy to use shell script which will
do that for you __{{emoticon}}__ . We called it"MPD Playlist Saver n' Switcher"
or simply mpdpss. Feel free to visit us there and get instructions,
report bugs..!

We need testers!!! I have rewritten it from scratch and now it is very cool!

I have given it a quick test and it is pretty cool __{{emoticon}}__

Using mpd/ncmpcpp running in roxterm or urxvt. No problems encountered yet.

(I switched from mpd/ncmpc to moc, but might switch back to mpd/ncmpcpp/mpdpss.

BTW I put mpdpss in /usr/share/local directory for antiX.

I'll be very grateful! I started using mpd in antix, and already tried moc. Could use it, but mpd is very powerful. ncmpcpp edits id3 (easytag takes long to start...)

As the time goes by, I could make a zenity GUI interface, but I want to know first how many people are interested in that!

A while back, mpd had a problem with RM usage being higher than normal, which was the main reason why I switched to moc. That seems to have been fixed now.

I'll include mpd, mpc, ncmpcpp and mpdpss on antiX-M8.5.

Hope the new version will be available for next antiX release, help me testing it! Added GTK+ graphical interface with the help of Zenity and running mpdpss with the option -g! Download now!!!

Created a .deb package! __{{emoticon}}__ Install it AS ROOT:

which comes with a manual accessible through
