GDebi comes up when I click a .deb file and appears to fine, but when I hit the install button it just disappears and dies....nothing is installed. Any clues? Thanks

Just click the link and install it. It should work after that.

thanks !! That patched gksu did the trick....it now asks for a password and functions as it should.
