British spy agency collects and stores vast quantities of global email messages, Facebook posts, internet histories and calls, and shares them with NSA, latest documents from Edward Snowden reveal.

Don't panic! I happen to know they recorded every transmission from Radio Caroline, back in the 70s, and all they did was store thousands of C60 cassettes in a storeroom and left them to gather dust. (They share secrets with lowly engineering apprenttices to impress upon them how wonderful the powers that be are.) They're like squirrels gathering nuts and then they forget where they stored them. __{{emoticon}}__

The Germans are somewhat annoyed about being spied on:

It may be up to the Americans and the British to decide how they handle questions of freedom and the protection of their citizens from government intrusion. But they have no right to subject the citizens of other countries to their control. The shoulder-shrugging explanation by Washington and London that they have operated within the law is absurd. They are not our laws. We didn't make them. We shouldn't be subject to them.

Lickspittle Albion up to it's usual standarrds of fawning subservience more like! I doubt GCHQ is even under our control any more. The listening station at RAF Menwith Hill was ours. Then it became a collaborative venture with the US. Then George Bush Jnr said it would be much more convenient for the Americans if they could run it on their own and our Mr Blair - his face set in a rictus grin, with much bowing, scraping & hand washing, a bit like Basil Fawlty withoout the ascerbity - handed it over.

Errr, what is fiber optics? We are still using drums and smoke signals and telephone lines in the desert.

Durn, the dogs are barking at the drones again. __{{emoticon}}__
