Hello there,

I am new to antiX. I have an old system. I have installed antix of late. Everything is fine and I love the OS. But since I have installed the antiX OS, my PC is freezing frequently. I did not face this problem when I had Bodhi installed just before a few days.

The programs that I frequently use are the Firefox [This is slow to respond. The pages do not move up and down smoothly. I had this issue with other OSs too. However I compensate this with the use of other low resource brwosers], dillo, Netsurf browsers. I have installed Master PDF editor, which works fine, which I use very much along with the LibreOfiice writer. Thats it.

I did the smxi thing successfully. I followed the no change policy. I did the sgfxi thing. Everything worked out fine.

I read on another thread about this freezing issue, which has not been solved. I wish to try my luck, because every computer is different.

I checked the RAM stick, it is fine. I carried out the memory test. There were no errors.

Do I have to revert back to older Kernel as suggested by SamK in the other thread? Please guide. I don't know how to do it, if it is necessary to be done. Can I install it from the meta installer? Is that all I have to do? Or may I have to make some configuration changes? If so please guide me through.

Following is the output of"inxi -F". [Which I found was demnded from the other member.]

Howdy and Welcome.

Just a stab in the dark from me.

Code: Select all

cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log|grep intel
Usually freezing is hardware failing. Especially on older gear. Like the hard drive has ran too many hours and reached a end of life.

But. Hopefully some other member can chime in here. I got the flu and won't be back for a reply later on.

I have an older system and tried Antix 16. I found it to run slower on my machine. I went to Antix 15 and found it to run very well. Don't know if this will help you, but worth a shot. Also did you run Antix live 15 or 16? If so did you have the same problems? I can't help too much as I have a lot to learn.
