But when I click on update link, an error page opens. I also don't find a"remove" link for Shockwave Flash. I chose"Never activate" option, restarted Iceweasel, but still can't see the flash content.Shockwave Flash is known to be vulnerable and should be updated. Update Now

Last days I have issues with flash content of web pages. It says that the flash plugin needs update. On the Add-ons Manager page => Plugins entry for Shockwave Flash I read:

Problem again:
System is updated. flashplugin-nonfree is installed.
Code: Select all
This plugin is vulnerable and should be updated. Activate Adobe Flash. Check for updates...
Code: Select all
Iceweasel has prevented the outdated plugin"Adobe Flash" from running on www.youtube.com. Update now...

Adobe has abandoned flash support in Linux verrsion of flashplayer years ago. Learn to live with it is what I do.
I still watch videos in flash 11.2.
If your gear supports it. Go with pepperflash. Mine does not. Because some of my gear is too old.

Thanks. I installed pepperflash but I didn't see any difference. I don't know if I should do something more to get it work. After all, I just allowed to flash 11.2 running.

What I do is use Video Download Helper and just download the video the flash is usually fronting, then watch that with mpv or something. Flash just had another major patch on Windows, so sites are trying to get people in the loop for that; there is surely an add-on that intercepts JS version whinging and feeds the version you have if you must see DRM-ish videos (which might have their own version whinging on...)
The FSF has Project Shumway if you want to work on flash emulation further. And of course we have solvers, Unicorn emulator, and other things to help wire it up for us... Though I can't help but think there's a MAME X Qubes subgenre for this sort of APT theatre stuff.
It does say Shockwave Flash is 'vulnerable and should be updated', but everyone knows it should be deprecated and/or killed in a fire. However, it still runs cool math games and bits of ABCMouse, so people with kids know to just whitelist flash on those and teach the kid to force-restart the browser and/or flash when flash locks up hard. Well-tuned antivirus (and sometimes Firefox) will get in on this. Anyone know one such for AntiX/sid?
hm. Debian sid antivirus to babysit/manage Adobe flash
nah. No luck with that yet on duck duck go...
More likely a WINE plugin, depending on whether you want to run Windows__ under lvm, VMware, etc.

Now I tried again the command and it worked. I rebooted, but I can't understand if it has made any difference, because I had already chosen"allow & remember" for flash and flash was already working.
I had used it, but I had got some error message that made me to think that it was not a command but something else that I should do, and I reinstalled flashplugin-nonfree from synaptic.caprea wrote:Did You use the command shay suggested?

I get the same. adobe has stopped updating flash for linux so newer games that use a newer flash (on windows) won't work and this is very unlikely to get fixed.

if you are running 64 bit, you *could* install google-chrome, which has its own flash maintained (for now) from adobe. Unfortunately, google discontinued google-chrome on 32 bit linux, so 32 bit users are out of luck.
