Installed mx-15 this morning and after getting my non pae issue fixed by dolphin i decided to click on firefox and it will not open...
I get the crash screen with choice to restart or quit...
I removed firefox with synaptic using total removal, and installed ice weasel and that works fine, went to install firefox again, which told me ice weasel must be removed, so i let synaptic remove ice weasel and install firefox, and it still crashes...
Any ideas or should i just wipe the drive and start over hoping for better results...

Run firefox in Terminal to see why it crashes.
Did you md5sum check your MX-15 iso before you installed it also.

nah i never run those checks on iso files i assume they are good if not i re download...
this is what it said in terminal: it won't let me post what it said i get a 403 server error when i try to post what terminal said... __{{emoticon}}__
I will try that and let you know what it says in terminal, but i just booted from the install dvd and firefox crashes on the live session as well, so apparently it is nothing I did when messing around with kernels after the install...rokytnji wrote:Run firefox in Terminal to see why it crashes.

It is possibly related to sse2 support which your processor lacks. I'm seeing conflicting reports. Iceweasel in the repository is still 38 or so rather than firefox 45. I no the html5 support is different. Perhaps things are still evolving.
You might try palemoon. It's based on firefox 29 but still receiving updates

without being able to post the error, i can say it has the word fresh in it, and the word warning in it, and the word wrapper, and the word conf... no clue why i can't post the error but it screws up the website for sure... I would bet that freshplayer-plugin is a problem. It likely won't work on your system anyway due to lack of sse2 support in the processor
You could remove it and see if that helps.
apt-get remove freshplayerplugin
I don't think there is a flash available for mx that doesn't require sse2 support, but I might be wrong.

I tried 3 browsers from the mx package installer and the only one that works is qupzilla all the others blow sky high when i try to do anything in them iceweasel when you click tools addons blows up... palemoon won't even launch...
Marking this solved, cause this machine just terrorizes me every time they drop it off for upgrades... LOL
i think this laptop needs to be retired... __{{emoticon}}__
you are correct it has sse but not sse2 flag...dolphin_oracle wrote:It is possibly related to sse2 support which your processor lacks. I'm seeing conflicting reports. My IBM T23 has no sse2 support and I run Iceweasel ESR from Jessie stable on that P3 just fine. Youtube is a wash in the browser but smtube takes over for that function and that P3 purrs like a kitten using it.
I run AntiX 15 on it. NOT MX-15.

I would remove freshplayer-plugin
You can't use it anyway.

Edit: I tried installing firefox again and now after removing the freshplayer plugin firefox works normally again without crashing...
I removed that from the system and now iceweasel works again, I wonder if firefox will work now also with that removed... __{{emoticon}}__dolphin_oracle wrote:I would remove freshplayer-plugin
