I don't know why I haven't been on this board before. Guess there seemed to be plenty of info on antix at mepislovers. But I have antix-forum bookmarked alongside of them now.
I do wonder why we don't have a forum category for 7.5 yet.
And thanks for the welcome.
PS: @anticapitalista I love the default wallpaper on 7.5test1.

Hi lucky9 and welcome to antiX.
Thank sakasa for the wallpaper.
There is no forum category yet as test1 was a sort of pre-test for regulars, testers, helpers, bug-squashers etc rather then for the 'general-public'.
Test2 will be available soon with improvements, bugs fixed etc and I think I can get to under 400MB without removing any apps.
Have fun with antiX, lucky9!

To me, a GREAT crossing between my two favorite distros: SimplyMEPIS and sidux. In many ways, antiX is the best of both!
Greetings and welcome to the antiX-forum! __{{emoticon}}__ Good to see a few more MEPIS Lovers visiting what is the only MEPIS derivative.lucky9 wrote:OK. Welcome from NE Oklahoma.

Well, I installed antiX-M7.5 test1 on my laptop (again; after succeeding in blowing up the previous installation using KDE4), installed the nvidia driver, disabled the Mepis repo, then modified it a bit (to use KDE (3.5.9 that is...)).
Installed smxi and used various options. Fairly impressed with it.
Lots of familiar names here....... __{{emoticon}}__
Regards, Ko
Greetings from this old geezer from the Netherlands. I joined here fairly early, but have not really posted anything (yet)...masinick wrote:Greetings and welcome to the antiX-forum! __{{emoticon}}__ Good to see a few more MEPIS Lovers visiting what is the only MEPIS derivative.lucky9 wrote:OK. Hello, Ko, good to 'see' you here too.
There are quite a lot of MEPIS users hanging around here, as well as users preferring distros ranging from Debian to slackware.
You didn't need to install smxi for test1, it is already installed. Also, it is probably better to use smxi rather than Mepis repos to install nvidia drivers.
Anyhow, have fun with antiX.

Once you figure out the smxi script all the head scratching suddenly stops. At least it did for me.

Thank you Sakasa! For the default wallpaper in 7.5test1. It does things to my head. Draws me in. Almost assimilates me.
Per test1 I had some windows open way too big with the LiveCD for the screen. I Alt+left click/dragged them to get to stuff.
I'll be running smxi tonight or in the morning. Where are we on being able to upgrade the kernel? Good idea or not?
Any tips or gotchas, suggestions or stories concerning antiX? I've been hibernating.
Good to see you around Mas. You got me started with Linux through SimplyMEPIS 2003.10.2 way back when. Thank you.
EDIT: Never mind I found the info.

Installing GoogleEarth through smxi could be improved I think. Although the installed app works OK the installation took ages and was accompanied by a lot of (seemingly identical) error lines.
Oops, forgot to take notes... __{{emoticon}}__

I know, but I installed the 'newer' smxi version (as a work-in-progress there probably is a newer version all the time..... __{{emoticon}}__ ). Regarding nvidia driver installation: normally I just grab the proper .run file from Nvidia and run it.[..............]
