Hello:
I've upgraded to Antix8 final and I noticed that none of the file managers (Rox, pcmanfm or thunar) display my cd-rom, data or music. A music cd will play through the music player though.
Any thoughts?
thanks.

As a follow up, it may be that there's something wrong with the data cd I'm trying to read in Antix. Ubuntu was able to read it but not Antix. Yet other data cd's are opening fine. Not sure what's going on, but I'll try a new burn of the cd-rom I'm interested in reading to see if that fixes it. It's a rewritable cd and I've had plenty of problems with those in the past.
thanks.

My current understanding is that linux does not mount audio cd's as such, but will still read info from them if called from a program. This is why you will not see a choice in Thunar.
I have found 'Grip' to work fine for playing audio cd's, as well as xfreecd and a couple of others.
In a kde installation using Konqueror, you can download the 'kdemultimedia-kio-plugins' to see your cd listed in konqueror.
In order to hear your cd's without 'ripping' them first, a separate cable leading from your cdrom drive directly to your soundcard must exist, or you will have to use a program that will"rip" the contents first, and then play while ripping. Amarok does this from what I've read, but I have not verified this information.
One solution that works well, is simply to rip the cd into a folder, and then play the music.

Thanks Sleekmason for your reply. My concern was with being able to see my data cd (which I could always do with pcmanfm). As I suspected, something was not burnt right for Antix8 (although my Ubuntu box could read the disk), since a new copy now works as before (with pcmanfm able to access the files).
Best regards,
Pedro
