I gather from many of the questions that come up on MepisLovers as well as here that many newbies are not seeing the FAQs in the Documents folder.
Would it improve things if we have a Help entry in the menu itself that opens the FAQs? And maybe add an introductory paragraph to the FAQs document that points to other relevant sources of help?
topic title: FAQs on the menu?

I think this would be beneficial. I for one did not know the FAQs were in the Documents folder until at least a week after installing antiX.

Don't we already have that covered? In the icewm menu, there is a help directory with subdirectories for antix, icewm, and fluxbox. Most of the links in each category are either faq's or how-to's. By clicking on any of the entries, the appropriate webpage opens in dillo. Is this what you're asking for or am I misunderstanding? Thanks.

Maybe in Ice it is, I never *go there*. In Fluxbox, which I use and which I think is the default, I believe there is nothing of that sort.

Huh! Do you think"Docs" indicates clearly enough what is in there? If I were a newbie, I wouldn't think of going there for help, but would assume that it is just my Documents folder where I *know* I have not put anything yet. If we have one or more help documents that provide(s) basic information crucial to newcomers, my pedestrian way of thinking is that it should be called"Help."
I went around with Warren on this for a year or more before he changed"Docs" on his website--which nobody understood to have any relevance to help--to"Community" (better, but not ideal).

Whoah, calm down Jerry.
Help does seem a better choice.
Any other suggestions?

Sorry, didn't see that I was being uncalm. Must be the election...
No other suggestions at the moment, though I am reviewing it all with an eye to your request on input toward a M8 antiX, and will get back to you on it. Also intend to revise FAQ doc itself with more advanced items, once SilverBear and I get the M8 Manual in order.

Thanks Jerry.
antiX-M8 is a long way off, so there is no hurry.

I do appreciate Jerry's idea to refer to the FAQs in a section entitled Help. Of course, that can include documentation or Docs, but for a beginner, something with a Help label is most likely to direct them to the resources that they need and it fosters a helpful approach that beginners are likely to want and use.
