I was wondering about a few effects in M11. with pseudo transparency, only the window borders seem to change, not the entire window. I thought I could install xcompmgr and transset-df but there doesn't seem to be a Mepis version of tansset in the repositories.
I suppose I could install compiz but that defeats the purpose of a light fast distro.

Is there some way to make the entire window transparent and not just the window borders?

I am not sure of an application that will allow this in any window manager. I do know if you install XFCE4 there is the capability of doing this through the xfce4 settings manager, I believe it is under window manager tweaks.

@loukingjr, use Enlightenment e16. It is small, fast, lightweight, and has the transparency you desire.

I suggest using the latest version which is

I'm probably going to be busy this week, but after that I hope to have more time to help you get started (if you want).

The default theme can be horribly bland. I suggest poking around in the themes (linked to in my guide) and download a few that look interesting. Also, the themes can look very different depending on how much transparency you enable.

I think you'll find what you need in crunchbang's repo.
