Have you tried reading the sticky in new users and finding the answer your self?

Might try picking default sound chip in the antix control center >hardware > default sound card.

Usually a new member is asked to give a

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
so members have good info on a problem solving question relating to the hardware mentioned.

Enjoy the disto., Enjoy the forum. Short shrift and high hats can get crickets chirping.
Howdy and Welcome.

I may be wrong, but i think that is a sound card/modem combo card with a chipset made by via. and I don't think the drivers are in the kernel anymore. MPU-401 I think is the MIDI interface, which is being exposed, but I expect will never work.

You didn't mention what windows you are trying to use, but its very likely that the drivers aren't in the base windows system.

incidentally when I searched the forum for sound MPU-401 all I got was this thread. I know we've talked about this thing before though.

look in your bios for an option to emulate soundblaster, which is what I do on my sony laptop of similar vintage.

emulate soundblaster
I don't think the bios has this option, but i don't have enough knowledge to verify if there is something like this in the bios, could you please check the manual about that?

@Shay: I already posted a link to the manual.
2.5.3 Audio Drivers and Software Application (AD70-SC)
The CD in the system board package also includes audio drivers
and audio playback software for Windows

95, Windows

98,
Windows

98 SE, Windows

ME, Windows NT

4.0 and Windows

2000 operating systems. For installation instructions or information
about their cor
responding
“readme”, click the
“Read Me” button in
the autorun screen. The autorun screen normally appears after the
CD is inserted into a CD-ROM drive.
Also i found the audio driver, latest are for windows xp,but maybe its useless to install because it may be already included in windows xp SP3.
How to be sure?

Could someone help me about the"emulate soundblaster" thing, i haven't found this option in the bios, but maybe someone who have more knowledge could find that does the same thing in the manual.

Or maybe it's better to upgrade(flash) the bios???

The setting I had was"legacy sound support".

But doing some research, that feature of the via chipset may have been removed in your version. Mine is different.

I had read no such thing in the illustrated manual.

Got any other hint ?
