just wanted to say hi.
i've not even installed antix but one thing is for sure, i will certainly have a lot of really dumb questions for you all to help me with.

why antix?
cos sum1 on the mepis board thought i might be better with antix.

system that antix is to be used on?
kids laptop, bought from pc world (by the ex!), probably reconditioned, refurbished, re-cycled rubbish.
probably iffy mouse pad where pointer sometimes jumps about, a few annoying little"mannersims".

That should be a solid platform for Antix.

Welcome to antiX, Marvin.

Once you are ready to give antiX a try, and if you need help, there are lots of great people here to help.

BTW, which part of Lancashire are you from? My partner is from Rossendale, I lived in Salford for 5 years (Lancs or Greater Manchester?) and I have friends/'relatives' living in various parts of Lancashire, ie Preston, Lancaster.

i'm from Notlob, home of the dead parrot sketch.
one of thatch's changes was to move bolton into greater manchr but most people ignore that b.s.
as for preston, that's a swear word in these parts, as they got the millenium city status instead of us - even though we are the largest town in the country!

just to keep you informed, i installed antix and it is fast and i did quite like it but when i realised that mepis had amarok, well, give a kid the choice between iGod synching and nowt and i guess you know the rest.
- now moved back to mepis ... looks like more memory is what it needs now.
although, i still say that mepis is at least as fast as windoze xp pro on this particular system.
