Greetings,
I've installed the full AntiX13.2 on a HP Pavillion ze1230 laptop with 256 Mb ram. I intend to run my monthly radio broadcast with the laptop. I've imported the music files from a WD Passport 1T (fat32) portable hard drive. I've searched around but cannot find how to edit the metadata associated with the files through the manager. I've tried to find a way through the file manager as well but to no avail. I've been a Mepis OS user for a bit more then a decade but do not have programming skills. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All the best!
Peace,
Ed

I don't think there is a utility to edit mp3 tags by default in antix. Put I've used Easytag in the past for editing tags.
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"https://projects.gnome.org/easytag/"
linktext was:"https://projects.gnome.org/easytag/"

Version 2.1.7 is available in the debian stable/wheezy repos. 2.1.8 is available if you enable the deb.multimedia repos.

XMMS which ships with antiX-Full contains a very limited tag editor. It may be too basic for more than casual use.

I found Ex Falso in the AntiX repositories through Synaptic. I also installed it on a machine running Mepis. I edited the genre tag on many files both by the machine with AntiX and Mepis but the Goggle Music Manager didn't recognize the changes after Syncing and Importing. I am trying to combine two genres entitled the same however one is all lower case and the other has the first letter capitalized. The music manager has separated them into two different Genre listings. Of course it would be the genre on which my show focuses. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Ed

Greetings,
I have successfully run two shows using this old 258Mb RAM laptop using Antix. Goggles Music Manager is brilliant and one can indeed edit the Meta-data tags with this application. I've found Antix and Goggles Music Manager capable of handling all tasks necessary to air the show.
All the best!
Peace,
Ed

One thing though would it be possible to explain how you changed the meta data with goggles? That way people who stroll across this thread will be able to know how to make the changes.
Great to hear it is working out well for you.ejsant wrote:Greetings,

Editing meta-data is really easy and convenient. Once the file has been imported into the manager simply right click on the track you wish to edit, select"edit", click on the data you wish to edit, edit the data, check the"update the file" box (so you've not only edited the data in the manager), then"Save". You can edit common data on all the tracks with-in a file by highlighting all the tracks then follow the above.
