Lately, my internet has started dropping out, from time to time.
I have not found any particular situation that makes it drop?
I can sit and read some site, and PooF! it's gone.
After a bit of trying different things, (and I don't remember the details right now) I got a message saying it was disabled by rf-kill.
So, the next few times it dropped out, I tried"rfkill list" as root, and it said hard and soft block was off, so I guess it isn't that?
If I got it right, rf-kill looks at the ifup and ifdown"thingies"? and let me and ??something know if the interface is up or down?
What would you suggest I have to do to figure this out?
I mean, where do I start?
Remember I am slightly retarded when it comes to these things __{{emoticon}}__
Oh, this is on antix test 3 full, with the 3.3.5 kernel, but it was the same on test 2
Ooh! using wicd... Maybe I will try ceni again, but wicd has been very good with this machine before...

Sorry, I had with unexplained disconnections
Pro / Wireless 4965 AGN Intel suspected.
For your chipset there are really no problems.
It can only be a matter of attitude.
Maybe that's some help:

Very good German! Weiter so! __{{emoticon}}__

Yeah, I think it is a simple setting somewhere, that turns the wifi card off, for some reason.
But I can't figure out what it is that makes it turn itself off?
Last night, I left the machine running while I was at work, and it turned off, which I can understand, since it goes to sleep.
But why would it turn off while I use it?
Heh, thanks!
I have to figure out if I should use ein, when I want to use eine, and the gender thing...

rust collector,
I get the same error msg on mine, but my wifi is solid, one thing I found is if you have many other wifi's close by, sometimes you can change the channel on your router, look at the other channels nearby and choose one that has the least # of people on that channel.
cheers,
ohh

FYI - if you end up changing the router channel, use either 1, 6, or 11. The other channels use overlapping frequencies. 1, 6, and 11 are distinct from each other.
What PC are you using? Is this an EEEPC by any chance?

Ok, thanks! and good info on the router settings.
Well, it has been working pretty good lately... so I might not do anything just yet.
Not an EEEPC, but close enough, an acer aspire one 110

Just went through the same thing in Antix 12 with a Netgear MA521 pcmcia wireless b card.
Took a reboot to fix. I stepped away for about 10 minutes and came back and pass phrase for wpa would not take in wicd for some reason.
Edit: searching for the problem. i read that if you have a wireless home phone and it rings. It can disconnect wireless in wicd and screw with wpa somehow. I have mine set on channel 11. The statement I read that this drop out with phone happens on channel 1. The phone rang was why I had to step away and work with the A/C guy outside. So maybe the wireless home phone was the cause is all I can figure.

There have been others on Debian-based systems reporting intermittent problems, too, so wherever this is, it's certainly not the result of anything we've been doing here, as we go through the Pre Final stages of the M12 release. I've not been able to pinpoint it either, because I've only seen it once or twice, and I've been pretty fortunate lately with my wireless connections.

I changed out my wireless card to a Belkin F5D 7010 ver. 6 pcmcia wireless G card . I have also a couple of Dlink WNA 1330 wireless g pcmcia cards also with a atheros chipset.
Let's see if maybe that was a hardware issue.
