Did a

Code: Select all

apt-get update
Then a

Code: Select all

apt-get dist-upgrade
today on my EEEPC 900 . Ended up with a

Tried google first before posting. No good hits for

I rebooted OK. So not a total break down. Thinking of deleting /var/cache/apt/archives/tzdata_2011g-1_all.deb
in rox as root. But unsure how to fix this.

My complete readout is in tar.gz

I am thinking of this plan of attack.

Delete /var/cache/apt/archives/tzdata_2011g-1_all.deb

Then lock tzdata_2011d-1 since it shows still installed and needing upgrade in synaptic.

Then run apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade again and see if I can get rid of
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
What do you think?

Edit: Scratch that. Did a dpkg-reconfigure tzdata and I am doing another apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade again. Looks like I did not get the full dist-upgrade on first try maybe. Will see in few if I break or make it.

Well, I at least got a dist-upgrade completed with no errors (sorta)

I made a /etc/apt/preferences text file

Code: Select all

Package: tzdata
Pin: version 2011d-1
Pin-Priority: 1001
At least apt-get dist-upgrade completed.

Now for a reboot (crosses fingers)

Edit: Reboot OK. 10 seconds to slim on ext2 file system on 4 gig SSD drive.

Marking this as Solved though I still have to figure out

Try renaming the /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab to something else ans see if the upgrade works.

/usr/share/zoneinfo folder is empty Anti. Nothing there to rename.

That is bad. There should be something in there.

Try dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

Code: Select all

# dpkg-reconfigure tzdata

Local time is now: Tue May 3 18:25:13 CDT 2011.
Universal Time is now: Tue May 3 23:25:13 UTC 2011.
No such file or directory? Icewm taskbar shows correct time?

tzdata is already the newest version.

I probably have to unpin it first. __{{emoticon}}__

Booted into Puppeee 4 (persistent external SD flash card) to look and see the difference between /usr/share/zoneinfo directories. Big difference.

Puppeee /usr/share/zoneinfo

AntiX /usr/share/zoneinfo

Wondering if I can go to my AntiX 11 box or my EEEPC 701SD AntiX 8.5 install that dist-upgraded OK. Look in /usr/share/zoneinfo there. If it looks like Puppeee;s. Copy it to USB. Overwrite my /usr/share/zoneinfo folder with it. Then try update tzdata. Tomorrow. Laterz.

@#$%^& fdisk crashed on a ext2 file system check on reboot in AntiX. error 4 . ran a e2fsck after umount /dev/sda1 in limited init3 shell. Broke it. Grub 17 error after that. Gparted running Puppeee shows /dev/sda1 now as unknown file partiton. Broke it.

Guess I am off to AntiX 11. Fun and games with moving /home to secondary ssd. Just shoot me.
