I ask because I waste way too much time on Facebook and in an, apparent, effort not to diminsh that I'd love to see antiX/MX info and updates pop up in my feed so that I could share them with those who know me.

I did search for antiX and had hits but didn't see any related to this wonderful distro.

I did find an MX antix page that appears to be about motocross and offroading.

If it was not for my kids, nieces, and extended family. I probably would not have a facebook account.
So mine stays pretty stark since I spend more time here.

Now I can see why some people are confused when they see AntiX MX mentioned!
That site calls it MX Linux!

The problem with that link is that you have to have an account to see it!

MX Linux is a registered name, and was created to future-proof the MX website and documentation as well as to provide an easy name to remember. We treat it everywhere as an alias--starting in the first paragraph of the MX website--that is useful for marketing purposes. We have also registered the domain mxlinux.org for the same reason.

The confusion that arises is not there, IMO, but in the ongoing use of language within the distro that is now deprecated. The release of"antiX 15" did not include the release of"antiX MX 15;" in point of fact, that fourth version was not mentioned IIRC. But if we were being logical, it seems to me that the phrase"antiX 15" would refer to all versions, not just the historical 3 antiX versions. Finally, since restricted development time and personnel make simultaneous release of all 4 versions unlikely, we could consider adding a sentence to future antiX release announcements along these lines:
The fourth version, antiX MX (AKA MX Linux) is on a separate development schedule and is expected to be released in the near future.

As often as not, people haven't thought to specify ("MX" or not) when posting.
More often than not, MX users aren't posting into the specific"antiX MX-14 Symbiosis" subforum.
Moving MX-specific discussion threads, or not, (or splitting out individual posts) is probably a headscratcher for moderators.

The separate 14//15 versioning has eased a lot of confusion compared to earlier this year, back when all the"14.x" versioning permutations
made it difficult to track"which end is UP" when reading help request posts and testing/feedback posts in this forum.

When I discovered antiX, back around version 11, I thought (and still do):
reading"derived from mepis" just caused confusion. Aside from paying homage to the creator of mepis (whom I never knew),
were the antiX devs trying to ride the coattails of mepis"brand", borrowing esteem from that established brand in an attempt to gain credibility?
What's the point in mentioning that"derived from" detail?
What's the benefit to the user? More importantly, what's the COST, in terms of user confusion (and/or expectations).

Now that MX"brand" has gained good traction, seems (to me) reasonable to place a"sticky" atop the MX Symbiosis subforum here,
encouraging MX users to visit the"official" MX Linux forum.
