my current computer is dying of old age and broken parts. i don't have any money for a gaming hog, a normal desktop is a waste of money and i hate laptops. But, the new eee i like, because of size and battery live. my question is dose antix work on it? have someone tried it? i don't have the luxury to buy it and not work. please if someone has an eee1000 with antix or has the option of testing antix on a eee1000 please tell. thank you!

I haven't seen the 1000 yet but I compared the 9*** to the Acer Aspire One. Nothing on the eee came close to the AA1 which was about the same price. Stevo on the MepisLovers has Mepis running on the AA1.
For you question although I have not done this myself, Antix should be able to run on the eee. It all comes down to the hardware. So I would did up a list and start there.

You could take the livecd in the shop and ask to try it.
Don't install it though __{{emoticon}}__

good idea but i need to take the liveusb __{{emoticon}}__ to the shop. i didn't understand how to make a live usb and the files required for it i didn't find: usb-M7.2-live.tgz or usb-M7.2-base-live.tgz. in this case 7.5 __{{emoticon}}__

If you have the antiX-M7.5.iso, the quickest way to get the necessary files to transfer to your usb stick is the run the remaster script.
Type remaster.sh in a terminal and follow the instructions.
This will make a folder called remaster and in it two folders called new-iso new-squashfs.
The files you need to transfer to the already partitioned (I used ext2) usb stick are in new-iso (just copy the contents of new-iso not the folder new-iso itself)
You also need to copy the antiX-M7.5iso file to the usb stick partition.
The /boot/grub/menu.lst should look like this
You should now be able to boot antiX from liveusb.
The remaster script will continue to be 'open', so to finish off, type exit, let the script finish. (It will make a livecd iso for you)
You can then delete the remaster folder and its contents. (as root)

thank you anti i'll do this tonight.
edit: ok it dosen't work. when i choose on boot the usb flash it goes to the default antiX and skips the usb.
the steps i did:
1.formated a 512 mb usb to ext 3 with the boot flag set in gparted. does it matte if i set it after? i don't remember what i did with the boot flag.
2. runed the remaster.sh script it made the new iso file.
3. copied the contents of new-iso to the usb. the files are the same as in the antix7.5 burned cd
4. copied the antix7.5.iso to the stick root
5. modified the menu.lst with the one you gived me
maybe i've done something wrong or not set the usb to boot properly. i'll try the usb on another computer tonight. i have sid-sidux not that it matters. i you can spot an error or i forgot somthing please tell. 10x

What are you testing it on? The machine MUST be able to boot via usb which means it will probably be no more than 4 or 5 years old if that. Most older machine do not have this capability
