I have a Synaptics touchpad that has tap enabled which allows for me to click simply by touching the touchpad instead of hitting the left mouse button on the trackpad. I would like to disable this tape feature but haven't been able to figure it out. Anyone run into this?

If you install gsynaptics it will allow you to easy configure the touch pad.

funny, my problem (in another topic) is that my touchpad works for navigation but the tap feature (which I like) does not work. I also installed gsynaptics and enabled the tap feature but it still does not work even after restarting the laptop.
What could be wrong?

There is some other info on touchpads on this thread in Mepislovers:

Maybe the xorg.conf sections that are posted there can help you.

Thanks erie. Just installed gsynaptics and disabled tapping. Worked like a charm.

I've noticed after each reboot, the settings are lost. In gsynaptics I have disabled tapping and vertical scrolling. When I reboot, they are both enabled. Why aren't these settings sticking?
