antix-m11
lxde window manager
I have downloaded a deb file"Moneydance.deb" and installed
There are no menu items for this file and I do not find a way to make an icon for the desktop
I can run by typing /home/Ray/opt/Moneydance/moneydance from a command line
I can also open using Thunar file manager
How do I add to menu and also make a launcher ???

Install lxmed in lxde. You can add launchers with it.

Thanks for the reply!!
Downloaded to Desktop lxmed-20120109.tar.gz from the wiki
Trying to compile the tarball ..ls shows the lxmed file
./configure indicated no such file
Opened install.sh file from the application and attempted to use the script on how to install using root
-v or -r returns a bash: no such command
Please advise where to proceed ??

Do you have build-essential package installed?
I install build-essential in all my installs is why I ask.
I have lxmed installed ok in fluxbox on this desktop where I run lxpanels instead of the slit in fluxbox.
Maybe Mint forum how to will help.

Edit: by the way. You need to be root in terminal to run the install.sh.
Code: Select all
apt-cache policy build-essential

Well after a couple of days of trying to install and start the lxmed application ...no success
I downloaded build-essentials and verfied the install
I downloaded jre 6u31 java runtime enviroment...and verfies from java and it works in yahoo
I downloaded and followed the how to from mint....also from lxmed website
All of these procedures were done as ROOT
From a terminal lxmed as root opens a password panel then disapears...as user it returns java not found
There are files and folder in Thunar ...yet locate lxmed is empty
All permissions in files and folder are ...ROOT
Any other guidance and suggestions will be helpful !!!!

As stated above java installed and verified by java.com that it is functional
when I use it in yahoo it also works correctly
It is my understanding lxmed should be run as root....it opens password panel then disappears
The same thing happen when I click on Main Menu Editor >from menu >preferences
Thanks for the help and reply

I use gexec to run lxmed as root in lxde. Best I can do is show you a screenshot of my Antix core install LXDE Desktop in action running Lxmed. I also have a screenr video showing me opening lxmed using gexec in the AntiX video thread here in the forum.
By the way. Are you the phil at murga forums?

Greetings All,
One of my accomplishments with antiX M11 486 was to make an RT5370 dongle work.
The main objective was to ensure that build-essentials was present.
Also the Linux Headers.
HOWEVER ... how I relate my experience to yours is thus:
Before my build-essentials worked I had to do an update FIRST.
Once I did the update first ... every thing worked flawlessly.
NOTE: rokytnji is the man and he'll get you through this.
I just wanted to pass on what helped me, and believe you me it helped me.
Each time I install antiX and now any other Linux distro I always do
an update FIRST.
I hope this helps...

Thanks for the reply
Started over with a fresh install and then did a complete update from synaptic along with an apt-get update.
Now I have a failed error when booting:
"Mounting local file system mount: devpts already mounted or dev/pts busy mount according to mtab none already mounted on dev/pts"
Here is the mtab file:
rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0
none /sys sysfs rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
none /proc proc rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime 0 0
none /dev devtmpfs rw,relatime,size=186084k,nr_inodes=46521,mode=755 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,mode=622,ptmxmode=000 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext3 rw,noatime,errors=continue,barrier=0,data=ordered 0 0
tmpfs /run tmpfs rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,size=38200k,mode=755 0 0
tmpfs /run/shm tmpfs rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,size=76400k 0 0
fusectl /sys/fs/fuse/connections fusectl rw,relatime 0 0
gvfs-fuse-daemon /home/Ray/.gvfs fuse.gvfs-fuse-daemon rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,user_id=1000,group_id=100 0 0
I am not familiar with mtab so not sure what is wrong or how to correct.
At this time one non working file is slim.conf the numlock on will not activate on startup...I have to click after booting

Thanks for the reply
Deleted"devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0622 0 0" from fstab and rebooted
Now the error is"Local File system not mounted"
There is no"shm" file in the fstab
Tried changing the mtab file from none to dev-devpts...when reopening file it was still listed as none.
