I've been using Antix on-off for the last year or so. Recently when I installed 8.2 base, I got a minor, but irritating problem. I set the installer up with danish language etc.. Worked fine, and when using leafpad I can write the danish characters: æøå.
But no matter what I try I can't type them in a terminal. I've tried in rxvt-unicode, roxterm, etc. I have changed the settings for rxvt-unicode to utf-8 etc. - but no æ ø å.
I've also tried changing locales, console-kit with dpkg-reconfigure. And I have tried changing x.org.conf, but with no success. I guess it has something to do with the laptop's keyboard. The laptop's a Armada E500 with danish keyboard. Can anybody help?

Maybe the terminals included don't/can't use Danish keyboard. The keyboard must be ok as you can type into leafpad, so the problem is with the terminal.

Try removing a terminal (eg roxterm), reconfigure your locales and then reinstall roxterm.
Maybe this will help.

If you are out of X, can you type those Danish characters? If so then it is definitely a problem with the terminal.

Thanks a lot Anti, I'll try that. Its a weird problem though, because the keyboard layout is right, except I can't use æøå in the terminals and I can type them in leafpad etc... I 'll keep trying. Thanks for a great distro __{{emoticon}}__
