Alright, server terminated with error (1) in the slim.log seems to be a key. I'm sure this is boring those of you who know more than me, but to me it's all new. If I'm reading it correctly, this means that the problem is that I don't have drivers installed for my video card. So x is smart enough to figure out how to use the video card when I type startx, but slim is not smart enough to figure out how to use it? If I just install the appropriate drivers for the video card will slim be able to figure out that I've installed them?

I think I am going to start a new thread. This one is kinda out of hand and out of focus because I knew so little when I started. If that is not an approved course of action, please feel free to delete my new post and I'll continue on here. Thanks for the help.
