Is there a way to designate partitions for certain mounts? From what I understand, the CLI installer only designates the root and /home partitions. However, I have separate partitions that I use for /usr /var /tmp. Is it possible to mount those points to their respective partitions?

I plan to use antix-core if that means anything.

Afraid not. The cli installer (as I'm sure you have seen) is very basic and limited.
You can, as I'm sure you know, set it up after installation via fstab or sym links.

Is there a tutorial where I can learn doing that?

There is no antiX tutorial, but there might be some help online. MEPIS users forum may be a good place to seek help as well.
Here is a thread asking the same question. (though there is no specific instructions)

antiX cli-installer does allow setting up home/swap on a separate drive unlike the gui installer

Since setting up separate partitions looks like it might be too much work, I have decided to just stick with the basic root, swap, and home partitions. If memory serves me right, the /usr /var /tmp would reside within the root partition?
