Hate to be the bearer of bad news __{{emoticon}}__ . But figured it might be worth a mention
Chromium: Multiple vulnerabilities — GLSA 201612-11

Multiple vulnerabilities have been found in the Chromium web browser, the worst of which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code.

I have so many installs. I will have to go through my boxes and check, because I think I have it running on something. Because I show on this laptop that it is not installed on as

Code: Select all

harry@biker:~
$ apt-cache policy chromium
chromium:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 53.0.2785.143-1~deb8u1
  Version table:
     53.0.2785.143-1~deb8u1 0
        500 http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates/main i386 Packages
     53.0.2785.89-1~deb8u1 0
        500 http://ftp.gr.debian.org/debian/ jessie/main i386 Packages
harry@biker:~

My sources list is

Code: Select all

harry@biker:~
$ inxi -r
Repos: Active apt sources in file: etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list
           deb http://antix.daveserver.info/jessie jessie main nosystemd
           Active apt sources in file: etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list
           deb http://ftp.gr.debian.org/debian/ jessie main contrib non-free
           deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main contrib non-free

Just a heads up. Not sure yet how it effects MXlinux. I am not on that box presently.

I pretty much signed up to make this comment... They have a libre version of Chromium now called Iridium Browser. However to my knowledge it is only supported for 64-bit systems.

I'm not a chromium user, but found these interesting to skim/read:

I wish I didn't have to use Chrome-based browsers, but it seems like the only ones that let me watch Youtube vids in every resolution are either Chrome of Firefox based. I used Vivaldi browser for quite a while but got tired of it's non-freedom, especially since it's based on Chromium which is already questionable based on what your link and Iridium themselves have said. There are a lot of horrible Linux web browsers lol... such as Midori, Epiphany"Web" (we're so impressed), qupzilla, konqueror... None of them play Youtube videos in every resolution, though they certainly are libre! Just not useful is all __{{emoticon}}__

Is it reasonable to expect these vulnerabilities in Google Chrome as well ?
