Hi I am new to Antix and Linux
I am trying to enable the hard lock on the wifi card of an Acer Travelmate 290.
Initially it worked but after a number of boots it won't be recognized turned of from the physical switch as well.
No unlock command will unlock it and the switch wont even turn it on.
After some research I found this post on the slitaz forum, which I suspect could solve the problem.

Is it possible to pack this for antix and run the commands, so hopefully this can be resolved?
Thanks in advance

unfortunately the driver mentioned in that post, acerhk, is no longer maintained in debian. It was reported not to work with series 3 kernels. The developer of the driver never updated it.

is there a bios setting for your wireless card, to re-enable from there?

do you have the physical switch in what would be the on position, before boot?

you can post the results of

Code: Select all

rfkill list
and

Code: Select all

inxi -NS

No Bios setting for wifi, physical switch has no effect anymore, not even the wifi indication led comes up anymore.

rfkill list:
0: Phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft Blocked: no
Hard Blocked: yes

inxi -NS

do you still have a windows install on that machine? supposedly booting into windows will allow the switch to work.

No I do not
I think I will install windows xp again
I was hoping to have this machine as a light linux machine
But I think me and linux don't mix well.

I think it may be a 'Windows' thing;
I had problems once, when dual booting, where if I muted the sound in 'Windows' & then switched to Linux on next boot, I could not get any sound. the solution was to go back into 'Windows" & unmute sound ( & raise it to 100%) then go into Linux & I had full sound.
It might be the same for your wifi.
