Hello,
I have a strange problem with my internet connection. The pc is connected to internet using a USB-modem GPRS/UMTS.Sometimes (not allways) during booting it will show me this error:
usb 1-2:device descriptor read/64 error110
hub 1-0:1.0 unable to enumerateUSB device on port 2

This maybe 20 times and booting spends a lot of time.
In this case i cant connect to the internet.
The umts paneel log shows:Cannotopen/dev/ttyUSB0

The same it shows if i connnect the USBstick after booting,so i have to put it in the pc before.

I knew there is a litle problem with this USBmodem before, because i allways had to take it away before newstart,it doesnt matter which system is installed.

Does anyone know a solution for this?

With a recent LiveUSB/CD try using the"nousb2" boot parameter. If that works then for an installed system,

are some ways to try to solve it. With the standard antiX kernels, ehci_hcd is not compiled as a module so you will need to use the little script they have posted.

Hi,
sorry it spended some time before i found the time to look.
Now it seems to be like that.If i boot with the live-cd and nousb2 the internetstick is found by pc.I can use the umts paneel and it tells me it is connected. It also appears in the hardware-list as Huawai and so on.Even I can connect it after booting and it will be recognized.
But with nousb-option I cant open any side in iceweasel or synaptic.Maybe the internetconnection is to slow in this case.
Has anyone an idea what to do?
Its some times frustrating if i have to turn the pc on for four times ,till it wont tell me error 110
OK,thanks

Hello,
after many google sides and many different boots i found out that i can use the internetstick ,if i choose the bootoption nomodeset. But now having some special effects ,that i dont like.mouse sometimes hides,by scrolling with mouse its like under water,in waves. But internet works.

Thought about why there comes no error 110 when using nomodeset.I`ve got a nividia card in pc.
Maybe i should install one of these proprietär drivers ?

It didn`t work. But theres really no/usr/bin/gcc-4.8.,its a gcc-4.7.little short time i thought about changing name and trying again.
I`d like to try the nvidia-driver.
How to go on? Can i download the /usr/bin/gcc-4.8 ?

You need to update your kernel and headers to 3.7.10-antix.7-486-smp

Having another silly question.

What`s the differnce in the bootoptions during booting between the first and the second, third lines.
Because if i choose the second, third line the pc is not much interrested in the usb-internetstick.
I`ll come to a black screen with a cross in the middle, can move with mouth.Openig terminal using startx the desktop will open and the internet works.

Also allways during booting it tells me that activating swap fails. But i don`t think that activating swap fails ,cause swap works.

Thanks for interrest,caprea

Hello,
ok .Updated the kernel with synyaptic.

Code: Select all

helga@freya:~
$ uname -r
3.7.10-antix.7-486-smp

But theres still no /usr/bin/gcc-4.8

I dont think that this is accidental ,but if i use the bootoption nomodeset,or if i use enit3 with the old or the new kernel,
theres no error 110 during booting and i can use the internetstick
Normally would say its no problem ,but my friend doesnt like.He plays a little bit overextented with all these changes, likes to use the powerbutton and everything works.

Is there another possibility to load down the nvidia-driver or how to go on?

sgfxi should choose the driver for you and you don't need gcc-4.8 to build for that kernel. In fact you need 4.7

Cool,this worked .I`ve got the nividia-driver.
Don`t know,if it really has effection to my problem with error 110
I just bootet one time again and everything worked fine,no error-message.
Like to give my good old computer a little breathing pause from all this booting.
Thank you
