Having an .Xmodmap file in ~ doesn't work. I've also tried adding an xmodmap command to /etc/X11/Xsession - that dosn't seem to be executed.

From man xmodmap
The filename specifies a file containing xmodmap expressions to be
executed. This file is usually kept in the user's home directory with
a name like .xmodmaprc.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that doesn't work either (I tried .xmodmaprc).

With almost every other distro, having .xmodmap in ~ works. It didn't in Vector Linux light either, which also uses iceWM - not sure if that has anything to do with it.

I need this as the laptop that M8 is installed on has some non-working keys (due to a mainboard problem - replacing the keyboard didn't cure it).

If I run the xmodmap command in a script at start up, where is the best place? As I said above, putting it in /etc/X11/Xsession didn't work.
