...but then you open a window, and you can not see it any more.

I just keep it, because I think it looks nice, sort of like a less uselessl wallpaper.

xbattbar is kind of interesting. I've never tried it but its very unobtrusive. I think I'll run it a while and see how it does.

Just wondering. Do you have a proc folder like mine?

Code: Select all

harry@biker:/

boot home lib mnt root scripts usr vmlinuz.old
dev initrd.img lost+found opt run sys var
harry@biker:/
$ cd proc
harry@biker:/proc

I still think conky is best with no task bar. But then. I can be a little stubborn myself at times,
You reminded to go ahead and install batti from tar.gz because of this thread using my old instructional posts in that thread I posted. Thanks for that. __{{emoticon}}__

Code: Select all

$ which batti
/usr/local/bin/batti
Edit: D.O.'s post below is more relevant than mine. Because of the apm error
child process (/usr/lib/xbattbar/xbattbar-check-apm) has returned non-zero code: 1

xbattbar -c

will use acpi to read the battery status. by default it uses apm, which even most older computers still in use no longer support.

Can't exec"acpi": File o directory non esistente at /usr/lib/xbattbar/xbattbar-check-acpi line 26.
Can not start acpi: File o directory non esistente
child process (/usr/lib/xbattbar/xbattbar-check-acpi) has returned non-zero code: 2
Solved: apt-get install acpi....then: xbattbar -c right
