Hi, sometimes when I log-in the background image setting isn't followed. When this happens X CPU usage is very high. A reboot will always fix things: right background, normal CPU usage. How do I fix this? Thank you.

Hi jimmy, you may try to delete everything in ~/.config/nitrogen and then set the backgroud again.
BTW, you can update inxi with the command
or by using smxi.
If its easy for you then you could also try the latest antiX (8.5-prefinal, final to come soon). But test it live to make sure it works better than the 8.0 you have.
Also if you want to upgrade to 8.5 you can install with the 'preserve home' option (just check the box in the installer). If you do so then after the installation boot again the live-cd and examine the folders from /home/demo (including hidden ones) and copy all of them which you don't mind to overwrite your original ones as well as the ones that you didn't have.

Ok, I deleted the files and reset my wallpaper. It'll take a few days to observe its behavior. Thanks!
I've wanted to upgrade for quite some time now, but unfortunately this old laptop has a problem with the DVD drive and doesn't have a boot from USB option. I can't risk messing up the system, because that would effectively brick the laptop.

There's good news and bad news. The bad news is after deleting the files the background setting is not followed at all. It now always shows dark-forest.
The good news is the CPU usage levels are permanently lower. This far outweighs the background issue, thanks.

gimmejimmy, if you just want a different background you can open as root your IceWM theme folder and set it in the default.theme file, replacing darkforest:
gksu pcmanfm /usr/share/icewm/themes/yourtheme
open default.theme
then change the field that says setbackgroundimage=
To see which theme you're using open the menu>settings>theme
gksu pcmanfm /usr/share/icewm/themes/yourtheme
open default.theme
then change the field that says setbackgroundimage=
To see which theme you're using open the menu>settings>theme

Since you won't be using Nitrogen (the app that sets the background) you may comment its lines in ~/.icewm/startup.
Also if you use ROX-Pinboard (the one that enables icons on the desktop) it sets the background. You can even set it to alternate from time to time. Of course this may use some more MB of RAM (maybe as few as 5 MB).
There's the option for using iDesk for that too.
In antiX's FAQ there are how-to's for both (the FAQ is made for antiX 8.5 so the menu entries are different but I believe both apps are present in antiX 8.0 and their use would be the same).
IceWM>Basic configuration, for the icons and IceWM>Basic customization for the wallpaper.
