I don't know if this has been asked before, I didn't find an answer to this specific problem.

I did install the Gnome PM from the repos and it works just fine. Since I didn't want to start it manually each time I logged in, I entered"gnome-power-preferences" in the .icewm/startup script.

Now, Gnome PM starts after I have logged in but always the GUI opens. It is certainly not a problem to close the window again, but still: Is there a way to start the Gnome PM without always having to close the GUI? I just want the litte tray icon to show up and tell me the battery status.

Hi pbachert, maybe you should run gnome-power-manager instead?
Also make sure you put an & at the end of its line in ~/.icewm/startup.
