Hi,
I'm un-able to get apt-get to install anything on my new base 8.2 install. It always tells me the app is not found /is un-available. I carefully went through the sources list and it looks normal. I'm at a loss at what to check. Maybe my burn was bad...?
Any thoughts on what I can check?
Thanks much, Bill

In a brand new system it's crucial.
And you should do it every time before a system upgrade (apt-get dist-upgrade).

If you use smxi it will do it automatically.

Great!
That did the trick. You guys make it look way too easy... __{{emoticon}}__

I haven't met smxi yet or done any rolling upgrades, but hope to figure it out soon. Thanks, Bill

Just a follow up..

I ran dist -upgrade; it downloaded more stuff than base even contains...egads!

It had some big issue with udev (don't know if thats relevant)and, on re-boot it locked me out of the desktop. I tried the ctrll- alt f7,f8 keys,"startx" and"telinit" various levels, no luck. Any ideas? Good thing base only takes a whopping five minutes to re- install. __{{emoticon}}__

You are better installing the latest antiX-M8.5-base-rc2 from here:

========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Test-releases/antiX-M8.5/"
linktext was:"http://www.mepisimo.com/antix/Test-releases/antiX-M8.5/"
====================================
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false

as it will avoid all the changes from when 8.2 was released.
