Hey all, Wondering if anyone know of a way to add a split window in Rox file mngr similar to what Dolphin has?. In case I'm not being clear I'm talking about the gui window that first appears when you start the file manager... in Dolphin you can choose to split it and have 2 instances showing in the same window and you can manage files between different directories and/or partitions. It's very handy and I've come so accustomed to it using Dolphin that I'm hoping it can be implmented into Rox. I think opening 2 instances of Rox could maybe accomplish the same thing but cumbersome on screen space. coj __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

I'm not aware of that capability in rox, I just open 2 instances of rox, you can use the keyboard to do it.
Alt-Ctrl-u

Not Rox. But Midnight Commander (mc in menu) has split windows.

Rox doesn't have 2 panels, but another excellent and fast and light file manager that does have the option is xfe.
Install it with no-install-recommends to avoid pulling in unnecessary stuff.
apt-get install xfe -no-install-recommends

If You learn how to use mc and nano. You will save yourself some grief when a dist-upgrade or personal change to like /etc/X11/xorg.conf or /etc/fstab breaks a gui boot up. mc can be called up from init-3 boot. So can be used to restore backup files when a change is made breaks gui. mc and nano has bailed me out on these kind of scenarios more than once.

A post on a different forum offered a simple, convenient script for automatically opening two adjacent instances of Rox with a single click. Nice. But as soon as you move to a directory with lots of files, the re-sized window tends to obliterate the other half of the two-window view (unless there's a setting somewhere in Rox to control this). A natively split-view filer would be nice as a standard antiX feature (I mean other than MC).
Edit: I just tried xfe (I've used it on some other distro before), and it works swell. The gui is especially clear and friendly. I think the command to get it is:
# apt-get install xfe --no-install-recommends
(note two hyphens for --no-install...).

If you mean making it difficult to see or access your other stuff, cluttering up the screen, how about just using another workspace, devoted to rox-filer? Or maybe using MC in the virtual console (ctrl-alt-F1,F2,etc)? Would be nice to tweak rox-filer ‘tho.
