Under windows, I've relied on an app called"LinkMan", from outertech.com
To my astonishment, I've been unable to find an analagous linux app.

Damn few linux apps (or panels/docks) are able to serve as drop targets for urls dragged from the browser addressbar.
Geez, XBEL is supposed to be a"standard".

? webmarx (bookmark manager app)? nope. no can do. No drag-to-add. It's copy+paste

keepassx? no proprietary data format (or encryption) for me, thanks

The funky"referencer" app will accept dragged bookmarks, but its features

Cherrytree organizer will accept dragged bookmarks (creating an embedded hyperlink within a target note) as will TomBoy notes...

...but the closest"fit" I've been able to find is the QT4 -dependent app named"TreeLine". It enables creation of data fields (date I added the bookmark, freeform text field(s) so that I can note why the item was interesting and maybe keywords/tags to search for later, and site username+password if appropriate)

Really? No app exists in the linux universe which provides a bookmark drop target, and pops up a dialog window to fill in details when a new item is added?
