Trying fglrx driver 12-3 next again, (maybe a sign of insanity), since radeon did not cut the mustard. Will see how it goes.
Epic Fail. Read up on fglrx driver and found it won't build on the newer kernels like the 3.2. 5 I am using in testing. Got some dkms errors while building the proprietary ati driver in sgfxi.
Does fglrx support the latest kernel?
The status of fglrx support varies, so make sure to check on this before you upgrade your kernel to latest. Usually however, fglrx drivers will work on kernels that are one major version behind the latest kernel.
For example, if latest kernel is: 2.6.29-1, then 2.6.28-1 is probably going to work, and 2.6.27-1 is almost certainly going to work with the latest fglrx driver.
AMD/ATI has fairly explicitly stated that they will not support bleeding edge latest kernels or Xorg releases, so don't hold your breath waiting for this to change. ATI is the 2nd or 3rd card chip maker out there (and their market share is dropping steadily), and with these tough economic times, don't look for the AMD corporation flooding the basically money losing Linux fglrx driver group with extra cash or support.
I don't want to all real-world macro on you guys here, but let's just say this isn't going to change in the foreseeable future, so just be glad the stuff even works in the first place, and that AMD/ATI has released the card specs and is funding the radeonhd/radeon development process as well.

But. I am posting in AntiX Beta test with a Desktop now.

I ran sgfxi again and picked the option 1 from menu. Not radeon or fglrx options. I can't remember for the life of me what it said. I went through like 3 reinstalls and when done. Picked start desktop. Boola. I got a brand spanking new slim splash login screen. Now posting in Icewm.

Not sure what I did. But. I putted a fix to it.

antixcc>System>Edit Config files now shows antix.list, debian.list, and various.list. I can live with out the mepis.list and java.list in /etc/apt/sources.list.d.
Geany as root can play with those, though I don't plan to. Marking this thread as solved and I am going to change the title a bit also.
Love it when a job comes together.
