The file is identical.

I'm creating a Personal ISO, with everything left at default.

I have done a fresh install on different hardware, not updated or changed anything, and created a new snapshot. I will try that, and report. If that fails, I think something is definitely awry.

I did a fresh install onto a Thinkpad T41 laptop. I did absolutely nothing to the install; i didn't even connect to the 'net.

I ran iso.snapshot, which created a file that was 722MB. The laptop only has a CD burner, so I transferred the snapshot folder to another machine using a USB drive. I checked the MD5, burnt to a DVD and tried it. The boot was successful.

I then connected the T41 networking, and did all the current updates using Synaptic. I was careful to keep existing configuration files. After the update completed, I confirmed rc.local just contained exit 0.

I created a DVD as before, but booting to the first screen showed this:



Continuing to boot failed, as would be expected.

I'm lost!

as anti said earlier in the thread, there were updates that affect iso-snapshot since beta 5 was released, names iso-template-antiX. I am running tests now to compare your results with beta 5 (i'm doing a snapshot with beta 5) and then I'll do a snapshot with the updated stuff and compare results.

beta 5, 32bit iso, no updates. ran iso-snapshot (defaults, personal snapshot), boots all the way to default desktop fine.



beta 5, 32bit iso, dist-upgrade (new iso-template-antix) duplicates chris's findings. Boot happens, X doesn't start.

I think the problem is slim.conf. the default user is still set to demo, even on the personal snapshot. and autologin, which the live uses by default, tries to log in with the default user.

**just checked, and my non-updated snapshot (which used legacy boot) does have the correct user in slim.conf. The UEFI mode on that iso also contians the %options% field, but other than a boot message about unregognized boot codes, the boot does proceed to desktop.

X actually starts, but never loads the desktop because the user is missing (the init scripts also complain about a missing demo user).

you can use cntrl+alt+backspace to kill X, login to console, change slim.conf to your user, and the dbus-launch slim (and use cntrl+alt+F7 to get back to the proper vt) and things will start then on my"updated" iso.

Same; X doesn't start.



You can Ctrl-Alt_F1, login, and then startx. The wallpaper is missing, and trying to restore it from the CC does nothing. Otherwise it seems to work.
