Installed to hdd and it it booted fine.
Installed xorg lightdm etc and then, up on reboot, that is when I got the flashing cursor.
I will try to get the slim changes made.

I just did the same install (twice) with lightdm without issues.

Made all the changes and still will not boot.

Will Start over with a different hdd. Just in case this one has gone bad.

Came right back to the Welcome to Antix17.a1 login.

5th try and this newby is curious as heck as to why it will not boot to the desktop.

Slim does the same thing. I see the same thing as in the picture above.

I am using a Dell Optiplex 755.

You do not have the correct xorg drivers / configuration for your graphics card. I would download the smxi/sgfxi/inxi package and run sgfxi to see what it does. Else post the output of inxi....

apt-get install xorg should have brought them in.

INXI still reads the same graphics driver.

Apt-get -f install xserver-xorg-video-intel?
IIRC that is the command to install the Intel driver

rebooted
And no change.
Inxi still shows the same driver.

looks like in stretch, if your intel graphics are"4th gen" or better, X defaults to"modesetting".

I haven't tried my mate setup outside of VB yet, but I just made a successful snapshot so I'll be able to check against the intel machine tomorrow morning.
