Thanks for your comments Roky!

1. Happy my PS made you laugh: wasn't intentional , but whatever.
2. Got the iso on a dvd: intend to use the facility therein (Antix2usb) to try to load on to a stick.
2. If Ok, will then try the PLOP route for the Thinkpad.

Regards, Grani

PS: (no don't laugh this time): how do I get a useable GUI to show - more like Windoze or Ubuntu ???
and how do I access the contents of my HDD???

Use a theme to make Icewm look like Windows. I don't know how slow and bloated your computer will be installing Gnome or XFCE using the meta package installer that is in the menu in AntiX, Remember. You are trying AntiX because Ubuntu 7.04 was too durn slow with your ram specs. Enough preaching though. Look at my screenr video for seeing what is available in meta package installer in AntiX

Read the Icewm thread here on installing new themes in Icewm. There are 8 pages there. Read the whole thread. I have contributed my tweaked themes there also. You get a macintosh type look with mine.

Antix would be MUCH preferred if/when I can understand it! - and no, I don't want to be bothered with the cli.
Aw, Cmon. __{{emoticon}}__ You could not ride a bike or ice skate or drive a car right off the bat, Your computer experience from a Windows perspective I liken to knowing how to drive a pedal car. I am trying to teach you how to get on a high performance motorcycle and lean into the curves at high speed. I don't expect you to just jump right on and not crash a few times. At least on a computer. No road rash. __{{emoticon}}__
