I just installed antiX on a physical machine ( I have been using it in a VM for a few days) and I was so impressed with the ease and speed of the install I wanted to make it known (as I am sure it already is). I understand that antiX uses the Mepis installer but somehow the install goes easier in antiX than it does in Mepis. I am very impressed with the amount of control, yet simplicity, of the install process. Getting my wireless up was a matter of stopping and restarting the interface! So far (it hasn't been too long) the only issue I am having is with playing a DVD and I am sure I did something wrong or omitted installing something (

Glad you are enjoying antiX.

I installed antiX-M7.2 using the fromiso method on my new AMD box with 1GB RAM and it took less than 5 minutes for the whole process.
ie Boot 'livecd', install, reboot into new desktop.

I don't have 7.2 but I have Lysistrata. Do I have to upgrade to 7.2? What would be the advantages/disadvantages?

Not really necessary as antiX-M7 series is a rolling release. ie to keep it up to date, do an apt-get update apt-get upgrade (or apt-get dist-upgrade) quite regularly.

You may miss out on some new configurations, changes in apps etc, but you can do that yourself if you wish.

I finally installed MEPIS a few days ago, (right after the large HDD for my laptop arrived ; D), but I've always been interested in X because I after 20+ years of dealing with Microsoft boondoggles I am ready for faster computers. (When the new RAM gets here, it will be maxxed out at 2GB.) Anywho, the MEPIS install went REALLY well, wireless came right up, ect - better than previous attempts on other machines. My only complaints are that I can hardly ever make my USB HDD's mount and there doesn't seem to be anyway to adjust any video player so that the image is not totally washed out except through kgamma which ruins everything else long before the video becomes watchable.

I'm downloaded the three antiX releases now. __{{emoticon}}__
