Just curious because I didn't find anything but are there reports of anyone getting Enlightenment working in antiX? I vaguely remember a post some time ago on ML about someone working on a e17 version of Mepis but I couldn't find anything updated on that. Has anyone done this under antiX? I have been playing around with e17 lately and might be interested in trying. Thanks.

i know this is quite an old thread, but does one you you know if the"project" the link is about is still active? I got e17 running on antix without problems, but am looking for"infos/tips/etc". thanks

it worked very well [(including ecomorph(compiz)-effects, but no cube, i think i had to install python-glx or a similar sounding package to get it"compized"]
i`m using antix-stable, so with unstable or testing it might be different or more difficult.

I'm also running e17 on antiX on this computer. Enjoy it very much and the installation has been very solid for me. You can see a good thread about my efforts and the feedback of others at: e17-on-antix-m8-base-sid-t1571.html It was going to be a temporary thing just to see if I could do it, but I enjoy it so much I've just kept using it.

In fact I just added a new monitor to this computer. One of those deals I couldn't pass up....19" widescreen LCD for $99 including the shipping. Standard resolution is 1440x900 which has taken some tweaks but looks great. When the busy summer is over, I might try creating/tweaking some themes for e17. Might be another fun challenge.

Very nice. I've had trouble finding decent e17 themes. Not a lot out there. What is the theme you are using in the screenshot? It's similar to my current, which I believe is fireball. Here's a screenie.

first of all a question:
i think e17 runs very well on antix (better than on other distros). I got an intel-card and had some trouble with the graphics. But on antix its fast and stable as can be, boot is like 10s and the graphics are great. You got the same experience with antix and e?(well, the same goes for fluxbox and icewm, i never liked them so much)

Here i`m using the night-bling-theme (else i like the lucax3 from elive), but added the window-border from imago.

I also download all e17-isos i find, if i like a theme i paste it over to my hard-disk installation
(~/.e/e/themes).

I would have to say my experience has been the same. I have two shuttle computers that are very close to the same, antiX w/ iceWM and the other a base antiX with e17. Both have 1GB of ram, both have Pentium 4's (icewm has 3.2 and e17 has 2.6). The e17 installation boots up about 5-10 seconds faster than the icewm installation. There might be other factors involved but e17 does appear faster. I've had no trouble with graphics and just placed a slightly faster video card in the e17 machine (an old Geforce 5500 replaced a 5200) and had no troubles with the switch. Just replaced a 15" lcd with a 19" wide screen lcd and that was quick and easy.

e17 is not completely without quirks. I still have problems when re-ordering the icons in the dock. Switching icons & fonts has been interesting but I've adjusted to using a different method with gtk apps. And I'm still discovering new ways of doing things. But overall I have been using it more than then my icewm install. As you said e17 is fast, stable, boots very quickly, and love the graphics. I just have what I consider to be a base e17 install and do not have much for extra e17 modules. Still considering the possibilities there. I will check out your themes. Like you I have stripped some from OzOs and any where I can find them. As I said before, I have limited time on the computer during the summer...too many other things to do outside. At the onset of fall and winter I have much more time to play and plan on exploring e17 theme construction and tweaking a few themes to suit my style.
