Hello

After a successful installation of AntiX, got a problem:

Code: Select all

#dmesg | grep wifi
wifi%d unable to attach hardware: 'Hardware revison not supported' (HAL status 13)
googling around i found that some had this same problem (with recent kernel):
ath_hal version is 0.9.18
but the ethernet and wifi card are supported by ath_hal 0.10.2.2

how can i update this module (this is beyond my current knowledge) ?

thanks for your support

It sounds like you need the mad-wifi drivers. These may help.

You might (also) need to install a newer kernel.
The latest sidux and MEPIS kernels work fine in antiX.
If you need help in installing, just post.

This from madwifi site might help too.

Now posting from my eeepc running antix and iceweasel !!!

I blacklisted the ath_hal and ath_pci and installed the ASUS winXP drivers through ndiswrapper.

After sone try-and-test-networking restart-iwconfig cycles..., my connection is working (I used wicd to configure the access).

Now that I got a connection, I'm going to play with smxi, and try a new kernel as anti suggested

Thanks for the help.
My first impression: the system is very responsive and boots fairly fast compared to eeebuntu or mandriva.

Great stuff!

Maybe you could document and post the steps you took to set up the eeepc with antix. I think a lot of people would be interested in how you got it going and how well it works.

Thanks! We certainly would appreciate a well reviewed step by step procedure for those trying it out for the first time. Glad to hear that you had positive results!
