Or use the"wicd" boot option on the live system.

It's new and we haven't made an official rc1 announcement yet so I imagine many people don't know about it.

Historically, wicd had been disabled by default on the live system  but enabled by default on installed systems. Now the installed system follows the choice on the live system and your selection on a live-usb is sticky so you only have to use the wicd cheat once.   If this new way causes a lot of trouble, we can go back to the old way.   When we were trying to debug the networking problems, it seemed like a good idea to make the networking on the installed system be the same as the networking on the live system to avoid problems but I don't think that's needed now.

Another possibility would be to ask if the user wants to enable wicd (on installed or live-usb systems) if they use the wicd application and wicd is not already enabled.  Or we could just automatically enable it if the wicd application is used.

We added back the"mount=all|usb|off" cheat on the live system to mount all partitions or just usb partitions at boot-time.  This does not carry over to the installed system.  This too is sticky on the live-usb which can be a little confusing at first.   We also enabled the automount option on core systems.  The fstab="auto|hotplug|off" cheat will switch over to the non-X-windows automounting used by default on the core system.  The hotplug mode will cause us to add fstab entries and /media/ directories when a drive is added but we won't actually mount it.  But it is easy to mount with the mount command.  This mode is the default on core systems.

PS: looks good skidoo!  I too hate those confounding dots in the background.

ControlCenter --} System --}"Choose Startup Services"
commandline is desktop-defaults-run -t sudo sysv-rc-conf &

Accidentally / carelessly closing the terminal emulator window while the utility is still running results in a sustained 100%cpu load.
edit: testing the latest version of antixcc.sh, I'm now unable to repeat this runaway condition

proposed solution:
antixcc.sh commandline would call a TBD wrapper script

wicd to me is straight forward, while ceni seems upside down and backwards. Just my perspective of the two.

Auto enable which ever one they choose to use would be nice, if possible to set it up that way.

Now if we could replace the real slow Firefox. . . . I do have Pale Moon installed in 16 but need to figure out a uBlock origin for it.

Yay! In the newer version pre-installed in antiX17, the screenshot feature now works.

conky is not being displayed to all workspaces in iceWM session (vs is displayed across all workspaces for jwm and fluxbox).
Maybe it has been configured this way intentionally ~~ I'm just mentioning b/c it's inconsistent across sessions.

other inconsistencies across desktops (fodder for a hints-n-tips topic):

jwm: theme selection doesn't take effect immediately; clicking the"Restart" menu item triggers the change.
jwm: unlike fluxbox and icewm, no default Alt+F2 keybind  exists {run gexec}
icewm: unlike jwm and fluxbox, mousewheel does not navigate between workspaces

known issue (not a bug):
fluxbox is preconfigured to have 5 workspaces; jwm and icewm are each preconfigured to have two.
If you have any program windows open in 3,4,5... you can expect to find juggled window placement/ordering
when you use the menu command"Desktop--}Other Desktops" and switch to a session which is configured to use

.
instead of calling this a"bug" ~~ chalk it up to"known issues"

The preconfigured clipit hotkeys are overshadowed by the preconfigured (fluxbox, and icewm, and jwm) window manager global keybinds

human-readable, non-COLORized version of some live logfiles are absent

v---- is this info still accurate ?

To preclude maintaining an accurate list within the docs, could just state
The list of services that are disabled is in the file /etc/live/config/disabled

hello Shay and everyone

urxvt terminal: grip a corner to shrink geometry, when pull back to larger window the window contents do not redraw.  characters beyond the small window size are erased.  on fluxbox.
