I just installed Antix 13.2 for the umteenth time and HOPEFULLY this time I will finally understand how this distro works. So far this is what I have been able to do:

1. Set up Samba using the system-config-samba tool. Super easy!! Thanks Dolphin Oracle for pointing me to the Debian versio of this great and easy to use little app!

2. FSTAB is all setup and works great!

3. My Cron jobs are all setup using Gnome Schedule. Works great.

Things left to do:

1. Figure out hoe to mount a camera using ROX and without using the GTKam browser

2. How to mount my Nexus 7 tablet

That's about it for now. I want to be able to have the same functionality I get with MX-14.

So, so far I am really liking Antix mainly because I have learned quite a bit about Linux since my last go with Antix. Fingers crossed. __{{emoticon}}__

I've had some success with jmtpfs, which is available in the wheezy-backports repos if you are using wheezy-based antix 13, or its already in the jessie repos if you are using"testing" sources in antix. Here's a link with some info. You will have to mount manually, but then you can browse with any file browser or even at the commandline should you choose.

Thanks! I think I came across that link before but wasn't sure if it pertained to Antix. I'm running Wheezy. I also have to remember that Antix is Debian based so I would imagine anything in the Debian wikis pertaining to Wheezy would also pertain to Antix as well.

Apart from a few niceties/extras, AntiX is Debian, so almost anything pertaining to Debian will work.
I've been using Debian based distros for a few years now, (AntiX for about 2 years), & find that they all conform, their differences are in how they are set up, thereby saving you the bother of any hassles to get some things working.
Glad to hear you are feeling at home with AntiX. __{{emoticon}}__

I guess what puzzles me is that in mx14 I can mount my camera and nexus 7 tablet no problem. I was expecting the same thing in Antis. Upon further reflection I think I realized that mx14 uses xfce while antix uses lighter weight window managers. Does this make sense? I guess if I used space fm there would be a way to auto mount cameras and tablets. Rox jwm require more work?

the main difference is the gvfs virtual file system support in the filemanager (Thunar) in MX. Neither rox nor spacefm support it. So you have to mount some other way, then you can using anything to browse the mount. all that nicety in MX comes at a cost in memory usage and iso size. Given antiX's targert market of aging machines, both memory usage and iso size are something that anti tries to minimize while keeping all the flexibility.
