So, I tried android x86 today, live from a stick.
Well, if you don't need too much stuff, it seems ok-ish.
it found my wifi, and sound works.
Auto-rotate screen is a bit wierd, even if you turn it off __{{emoticon}}__
play store came with it, so you can have your favourite apps __{{emoticon}}__
There is no way to shut it down, so you have to install a shutdown app __{{emoticon}}__
I would like to have it as a live&persistent stick, but I have not figured out how yet.
I did try the persistent-ubuntu function in unetbootin, and it did do something, but it did not work. __{{emoticon}}__
I tested this on my acer aspire one 110 netbook.
